Vocal Workshop with Robert Serrell for Cast of Andromache

On Tuesday, February 9th, in the evening, the cast of Andromache participated in a two-hour workshop with the Linklater-trained vocal coach Robert Serrell.  Performing outside in the amphitheater, usually during very high winds, and without a backing to the stage area, in chilly April, offers a challenge: how to project your voice sufficiently for the audience on the stone seats to hear, but without straining? Robert showed us how to have fun with our voices, and how to keep our “instruments” in good working order for the challenges ahead.

Robert is the Executimg_1556brnwa9bjive Director at The Barrow Group in New York City (www.barrowgroup.org) and a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher. He has taught voice, text, speech, stage combat and acting at The Actors Studio MFA Program at Pace University, Shakespeare & Co, Emerson College, Brandeis University, and elsewhere.  He has  worked as vocal coach on the feature documentary film Code of the West and several regional productions. As an actor he has performed with Shakespeare and Company, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Actors Shakespeare Project, Publick Theatre, and in NYC in The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other at the Five Myles Theatre (OBIE Award Winner: Best Special Work) and Jig Saw at the Dawn-Powell Off-Broadway Festival.
